Zyprexa

Zyprexa (olanzapine) is an atypical antipsychotic drug intended for the treatment of a wide number of conditions caused by the imbalance of chemicals in the brain, the most common ones being schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Unless your health care provider recommended otherwise, you will need to take this medicine once a day with some food or without. You may need to wait for some 4 weeks until you will be able to notice significant improvement in your condition. Until then – keep taking Zyprexa regularly and watch for such mild side effects as weakness, drowsiness, back pain, constipation, increased appetite, upset stomach, dry mouth, dizziness, and weight gain. The side effects mentioned are mild and you do not need to report them to your health care provider. However, in some cases they may change in intensity and interfere with you everyday life – in that case call your doctor and discuss the possibility of a dose adjustment. Tell your health care provider about your intentions to combine Zyprexa with such medications as fluvoxamine, high blood pressure medications, Parkinson's disease drugs, heart condition meds, or carbamazepine, as that way you will have both your doses adjusted and will avoid more serious side effects than the ones mentioned above.
